Janet Murray: How to Pitch Yourself as a Podcast Guest
Learn the 10 things you should do if you want to book yourself as a guest on dozens of podcasts
Four years ago, Janet Murray explained in a short 5-minute video how to pitch yourself as a guest on dozens of podcasts. Her tips are still timely today.
1. Remember it's not about you.
2. Label the subject header of your email.
3. Pitch a specific idea for a show — and do it in the subject header.
4. Keep your introduction brief.
5. Show you've actually listened to the podcast.
6. Show you can add value for their audience.
7. Show how you can help them grow their audience.
8. Show that other people value your content.
9. Make it as easy as possible for the podcaster to say YES!
10. Don't forget to follow up. Note: After the podcast episode is released, don't forget to say thanks!
Janet Murray’s YouTube Description
When you write the description of your videos on YouTube (or any other podcast episode or Vimeo or Rumble videos), be sure to include all the ways people can reach out to you. Have this add-on material in a document where you can cut and paste the add-ons into every video or podcast episode description.
Note: Janet offered only a one-line description to her video. If she’d been smart, she would have added her 10 points to the description as well.
After her description, she encourages people to subscribe to her YouTube channel, read her blog, listen to her podcast, visit her website, get her book, and connect with her via social media.
In this short video you'll learn how to pitch yourself as a podcast guest.

Again, be sure to prepare such a listing that you can add to your video descriptions (on YouTube, Rumble, Vimeo, etc.) and your podcast episode show notes. Then you can cut and paste the same connections information to every episode and video.
Note: I’ll be sharing other videos on how to book podcast interviews as a guest as well as other tips, pitch one-sheets, and more. But you will have to be a paid subscriber to see those. Please help support my work by becoming a paid subscriber AND get an incredible education on how to podcast, do guest interviews, and a whole lot more!
